16 Patch Wedding

If you are looking for my SMS giveaway it is here.

A few photos of a St. Louis 16 patch quilt I made for some friends who got married recently. The blocks were made by 4 different people (Kim, Cassie, Jes and myself). I made the border and assembled the top at the Stash Bash.

I made this St. Louis 16 patch before it was cool. I'm A Ginger Monkey's Katy now has a StLouis16patch-a-long going on on instagram now. My blocks are smaller 8" finished and were made using this tutorial I wrote.

The backing is Robert Kaufman 108" wide Spot On.  PSA: You won't need to piece the back if you use extra wide fabric unless you only buy 1.5 yards of it (Doh). Luckily it was enough for the back, but I did have to piece it.

Close up of the yummy quilitng. I used a variegated Aurifil thread and quilted in overlapping arcs.

  1. I really like the look of the variegated thread in your last close-up. The thread really brings out the brights and makes the dark background have a home-y kind of look!I am also in the "I always underbuy backing" club. Every. Time.
